Accessing the Private Rented Sector: The Cost Effectiveness of Deposit Guarantee Schemes in Scotland

Research report on the cost benefits of using a Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DGS) to help homeless and vulnerably housed people in Scotland to access private rented accommodation. The report provides background information on DGSs and their role in Scotland, and compares the cost of DGSs against other homelessness pathways, including temporary accommodation, hostels and B&Bs. Recommends that DGSs should be encouraged and resourced to develop by local authorities and the Scottish Government.
