Publication year:

Summary of report on homeless people with multiple needs in Northern Ireland. Based on survey of residents in hostels and other temporary accommodation with a range of support needs, including those with drug, alcohol and mental health issues, offending behaviour, and learning difficulties. Includes statistics on the level of support required in different Housing Executive areas. Report highlights particular problems around accessing addiction services, the treatment of people considered to have personality disorders, support services for people with dual diagnosis, and the role of GPs as the principal gatekeepers to other services. Recommends more move-on accommodation and support services, better staff training and links with statutory services, and lower staff/client ratios in keywork sessions. Free to download from the Publications (Research/Needs of Homeless People) section of the CHNI website. Copies of full report also available.
