Rural Homelessness: Advice, Accommodation and Support Options for Homeless People Living in Rural Northern Ireland

Author:
McCrum, Joan
Publication year:
2003

Research report on advice, support and accommodation available to homeless people in rural Northern Ireland. Based on detailed surveys in Newtownards, Newry, Fermanagh, Ballymena and the rural area of east County Londonderry. The report makes a number of recommendations, including the need for further research into hidden homelessness within rural communities. Among recommendations relating to advice and support services, the report concludes that a telephone helpline service giving practical advice (and not just information) is a resource which groups would welcome. Other recommendations are made about temporary accommodation and the prevention of homelessness. Available to download free from the CHNI website.
