An Evaluation of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme

An evaluation of the pilot Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) set up in March 2000 to address the misappropriation of rental deposits by landlords and agents. Carried out by researchers at the Centre for Housing Policy at the University of York. Assesses how the pilot TDS was developed and administered during the course of the evaluation period (2000-2002). Investigates landlord, agent and tenant experience of the scheme, and speculates on how the scheme could be rolled out on a national basis. Available to download from the CLG website.
