The Housing Needs of Ex-Prisoners

Evidence has shown that those ex-prisoners without satisfactory accommodation are more likely to re-offend. This study examines difficulties faced by prisoners in their search for a home, following a sample of prisoners over the course of several months after their release. Advice available to prisoners prior to their release is evaluated and perceptions of professionals in this field are measured against the experience of ex-prisoners. Research findings can be accessed through the Joseph Rowntree Foundation website at www.jrf.org.uk/knowledge/findings/housing/h178.asp.
